AI Didn’t Change What I Do. It Changed How Fast I Can Think, Test and Execute.

The fundamentals of good ERP consulting have not changed. You still have to observe, question assumptions, understand the business, follow the transactions and know when something does not make sense. What has changed is the speed and depth at which an experienced operator can now move from observation to analysis, testing and execution.

The Work Is Still the Work

I approach NetSuite today much the same way I did when I started consulting. I dig in under the hood, assume nothing, watch how people actually use the system and ask enough questions to understand what is really happening. I follow the transaction, the data and the process until the problem becomes clear. Then I align the people involved around a practical solution and execute.

AI Compressed the Distance Between the Question and the Answer

What is dramatically different is everything surrounding that process. An observation that once triggered hours of research, analysis or experimentation can now immediately lead into deeper investigation, competing hypotheses, code review, data analysis and a working prototype.

AI does not make the decision for me. It gives me the ability to investigate more possibilities, challenge my own assumptions and test potential solutions while the business problem is still sitting directly in front of us.

The Client Gets to See AI Doing Real Work

That may be one of the most valuable parts of this new way of working. A company does not have to attend an AI seminar to understand what AI can do when its people are sitting beside someone using it to solve a problem they already care about.

They see a question become an investigation. They watch an idea become a prototype, a prototype become a test, and a test become something useful in the business far faster than they expected.

Judgment Matters More, Not Less

None of this eliminates the need to understand ERP, accounting, inventory, sales, operations or how people actually behave inside a system. In fact, faster tools make judgment even more important because a consultant who begins with the wrong assumption can now travel in the wrong direction much faster.

The advantage comes from combining experience with a workflow that can continuously research, test, challenge and refine the work. AI did not replace the consulting discipline. It amplified it.

The Best AI Demonstration May Not Look Like an AI Demonstration

Companies are being told constantly that they need an AI strategy, AI training and AI tools. Those things may be useful, but there is another way people learn what AI can actually mean inside their business: they experience someone working differently.

I still help companies solve NetSuite problems, improve processes, understand their data and regain trust in their ERP environment. The difference is that the workflow surrounding that work is now thoroughly supercharged.

And when a client watches that happen on a real problem inside their own business, the conversation often changes.

It stops being, “What can AI do?”

It becomes, “Where else can we work like this?”

About Left Ledger

I help companies already running Oracle NetSuite, or in the midst of an implementation, regain operational clarity, financial trust and process control across the ERP environment.

Independent. No license reselling. No partner quotas. No layers of project management. Clients work directly with a NetSuite ERP soloist focused on how the system actually behaves inside day-to-day operations.
