Banking / Guide overview
Start with the transactions in NetSuite. Then choose the path that fits how you handle your bank statement.

Bank reconciliation begins before you open a reconciliation screen. Deposits, payments, fees, and other activity need to be recorded in the right account and for the right amounts. A missing or duplicate transaction can look like a matching problem when the underlying record is the real issue.
If customer payments are held in Undeposited Funds, build the bank deposit to reflect what the bank actually received. That gives you a sensible starting point when you compare NetSuite with the statement.
Work through the sequence: record deposits, import the statement, match bank activity to the transactions already in NetSuite, and reconcile the account statement. Matching connects an item from the bank with its NetSuite transaction. It is a useful check on the records, but it does not by itself confirm that the whole statement period balances.
You can still reconcile against the bank statement by reviewing and clearing the recorded transactions manually. The objective is the same: confirm that the transactions included for the statement period agree with the statement balance.
How to Reconcile a Bank Account in NetSuite Without Importing a Statement
Follow the manual clearing path, identify outstanding items, and check the final difference before completing the period.
Reconciliation confirms that the transactions included for a statement period agree with the ending balance on that statement. If there is an unexplained difference, stop and investigate it. Check for missing entries, duplicate entries, incorrect amounts, and transactions assigned to the wrong period before completing the reconciliation.
